Well, it is that time of year again. The time of the year when Sportscenter is not allowed to go on the air unless they mention the words "Favre" and "retirement" at least 20 times. With the Vikings out of the playoffs, Brett Favre is faced with the decision to play another year, retire, or just straight up lie about it. In the past, Favre has proven that he can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants when it comes to career choices. Two years ago, he retired from the Green Bay Packers. Then he unretired in order to play for the New York Jets. After a disappointing season with the Jets, he retired again, for good this time, he said. But, low and behold, Favre unretired once again to join the Minnesota Vikings, a division rival of his old Packers squad. He was even able to sucker his way out of training camp, joining the team in mid-August.

Now, after a storybook season that was filled with MVP talk and capped by a run to the NFC championship, Favre is once again contemplating retirement. Vikings' Head Coach Brad Childress announced last week that he has no intention of putting a deadline on Favre's decision. "I don't know. It's up to him, but it's not a deal where I need to put a gun at his head and say, 'I need to know in a week, two weeks, two months,' " said Childress last Tuesday.

Favre has not respected deadlines in the past in terms of retirement decisions, so for Childress to set one might seem illogical. Favre has said that he will discuss his options with his family and hopes to come to a decision sooner rather than later: "I am going to go home, a couple of days and just talk it over with the family."

Favre did say that his return was "highly unlikely," but that came immediately after a devastating loss to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game. Favre was hit hard countless times in what was an extremely physical NFC championship. He then went on to throw an interception with under a minute to play that essentially cost the Vikings the game and a trip to the Super Bowl.

Are you serious? Brett Favre "unretired in order to play for the NY Jets" Where were you when the Packers said they were sticking with Rodgers? Favre most certainly did not want to play for the Jets. (Continued…)
