GREEKS: Kappa Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Theta organized events to raise money for charities.

The Florida Beta chapter of Phi Delta Theta hosted their first annual Charity Cocktail Fundraiser to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, a registered 501(c)(3) charity that helps severely wounded war veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum on Thursday, Oct. 8.

The brothers of Phi Delta Theta partnered with DLE Sports Management Group of Washington D.C. to host the event at Rollins College. DLE Sports President Doug Eldridge is running 10 marathons in 12 months to raise $100,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to honor and empower soldiers. Money raised at the event will go toward this yearlong campaign, aptly titled the 10-12-100 Campaign.

Rollins students, alumni and members of the Board of Trustees came out to help Eldridge stride toward the finish line and reach his goal to help wounded American soldiers.
"I was pleased to see the turnout and the resulting generosity for the Wounded Warrior Project," said Trustee Bobby Ourisman (Class of 1978), who attended the event with fellow alumnus Cary Kresge (Class of 1966, 1967MBA) and his wife Sue.

Ourisman, whose son Robert is a sophomore in the fraternity, added that he thought the Phi Delta Theta fraternity showed maturity and a good social conscience in promoting this fundraiser:
"Well done Phi Delts," Ourisman exclaimed.

The last two races in the 10-12-100 Campaign will be Washington DC's Marine Corps Marathon in October and the Las Vegas Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in December. To learn more about 10-12-100 and the Wounded Warrior Project, visit http://www.dlesports.com.

Kappa Kappa Gamma's (KKG) 42 sorority sisters gathered October 15 to raise awareness and funds for the organization Autism Speaks through "Kappa Kouture." This philanthropic event consisted of both a silent auction, with more than 25 donated items, and a trunk show featuring couture merchandise from shops like Sultre, Downeast, Tuni and more. One of the hottest items of the evening was the "Upperclass-man Parking Space", donated by Campus Security; this item was already going for $425 by 7 p.m.!

The event had something for everyone, from fleur-de-lis shaped cookies courtesy of Sodexo, to gift certificates to Gurtzberry, Bangz, Champu, Stella Luca, Starbucks, Earth Inspired Living, Orchid, The Bistro, and more. Also, three Cole Haan bags and racks of in-season couture were up for grabs; the Kappa girls made sure to cover everything.
