In a heartbeat, the cafeteria we know so well as Beans was transformed into a black tie, red carpet event including celebrity look-a-likes, paparazzi and over 500 students filling both the upstairs and downstairs of the campus center.

Students gathered in a theatre-like setting to watch the top 16 films compete for Best Comedy, Best Historical Documentary, Best Drama and Best Picture. Throughout the event students were graciously entered into a raffle, giving away round trip plane tickets, iPod shuffles, movie posters, DVDs and more.

Several organizations and classes created films including the German Club, The Surf Club, Phi Delta Theta and others. The audience laughed when fellow classmates documented the meticulous creation of a sandwich and the mocking of The Fabulous Life of Rollins, learned about Meals on Wheels in the Orlando area as well as some controversial independent films.

As the audience nervously awaited the results, hosts Thomas Mullett and Yvette Kojic emulated the Oscar's, "And the envelope please..."

"We had a fantastic Rollins College Campus MovieFest Premiere night last Wednesday and we would like to thank all the teams who participated, every one who helped out with the event, and everyone who came out to see the fabulous movies. If you didn't get a chance to make it out to the Premiere, fret not, every movie made by Rollins teams will be viewable on the CMF website by the end of this week. If you were not able to participate this year, you are in luck. The LEAD team along with the wonderful folks at the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership are already planning for next year's Rollins Campus MovieFest. So teams you all have one year to plan out your next big budget epic motion picture and be looking forward to your chance to be on the big screen!"

Congratulations to the winners for Best Comedy: "Amor Paterno" by Tentacle Studios including Andrew Smalls and Garrian Spivey, Best Documentary: Aging in America by Social Gerontology Documentary Group including Jesenia Brown and Kimberly James-Kelly , Best Drama: "The Pentagon" by Strong Haul for the Long Haul including Matt Hirschbiel and Jay McDermott; and Best Picture: "Amigos En America" by Triple J Productions including Julianne Austin, Jon Birdsong, Lara Bueso, Justin Cox and Jono Mahonovich.

Organized by the LEAD team, members are already planning the details for next year's event, hoping to make it annual and encouraging an even greater amount of students to sign up to participate. Also supported by ACE, they can be credited for the intense transformation of Beans and some of the giveaways.

Movies can both be viewed and purchased at Campusmoviefest.com.
