Throughout his two years of producing, hosting and running Flicks on Fairbanks, Preda has not had any obstacles.
In fact, the only tough part about Flicks is trying to get the filmmakers to come out and show their work.
"The biggest challenge is harnessing the energy of all of the talented filmmakers in town," said Preda. "When I first started I thought all of the filmmakers would be coming out of the woodwork to show their material. But unfortunately a lot of talented skilled filmmakers don't necessarily make savvy individuals who are willing to promote themselves. So I had to really go out and get filmmakers to submit their work."
As for the future of Flicks on Fairbanks, Preda is stepping down and Feldman will be taking over. "I'd like to make the majority of the shorts on the screen local, with a small sampling of state-wide and national shorts," said Feldman, "but I really want to give the opportunity to filmmakers here to show their stuff who really want and deserve the opportunity."
