Orientation started with a flurry of activity...and ended with a bunch of burned out transfer students. It was nice to be included in some things, to have a week to get our bearings and adjust to a new school, but at the same time we'd already done everything.
Millions of college students are now returning to school. U.S. News & World Report has just released its latest, much-heralded ranking of America's best colleges. Amid all this activity and fanfare, we might ask how our system of higher education is faring.
